"I have a passion for defending people’s rights, engaging directly with people, and solving legal problems in a practical way."
I am currently on maternity leave and may not be able to respond to you or accept new cases at the moment.
Note to police and prison staff: if a person requests to call me, I am happy for you to facilitate this.
Clarity, insight, communication
I am admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand. I hold a Bachelor of Arts (major in Philosophy) and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Auckland.
I began my career in Auckland as a solicitor at a highly regarded boutique civil litigation firm, Wilson Harle. I developed my skills as a criminal defence lawyer while working at the Public Defence Service and then for a senior criminal barrister, Philip Hamlin. I am now an independent barrister.
I have achieved excellent results for a broad range of clients across the Auckland region. I have extensive criminal defence experience, including jury trials, judge-alone trials, sentencings, bail hearings, parole hearings, and appeals.
I have a particular interest in mental health issues affecting people within the criminal system, and have conducted numerous hearings about fitness to stand trial. I have been involved in the specialist Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment Court since its inception.
I accept both private and legal aid instructions.
I have a personal dedication to improving access to justice, alternatives to imprisonment, and meaningful reintegration and support for people released from prison.
